Hi Andy,
Thank you for the reply. Exactly what you said - the disk looks and is ok,
but the
DOS won't boot properly. Really weird track accessing sounds and no I/O
error, just
a frozen boot screen with perhaps an inverse "B" near the bottom middle.
Here's an example.
- Boot Apple II into DOS 3.3
- Brun ADT
- Setup ADTWIN on the PC side
- Transfer standard issue DOS 3.3 dsk image to Apple from PC
- Quit both ADT (Apple II side) and ADTWIN
- Reboot 5.25" disk in Apple (power off - on OR ctrl-OA-Reset)
- It won't boot.
Then if I run Master Create on the newly transferred disk, it'll boot fine
and the actual programs are on the disk as they are on the PC side dsk
image.
I was using 5.25" drives, but I've switched to 5.25" Uni-Disk drives now
and it sort of works better, but not consistently. It still fails
occasionally.
Is it a drive speed issue perhaps? - trying to write tracks 00, 01, and 02
is
just too much for it at (too hi or too lo) it's speed?
Does that make any sense?
Later,
Craig
