Hard Drives for 40 meg vulcan

Hi,
    After giving up on my vulcan power supply, I dug up the smallest PC
power supply I could find and attatched the IIe power connector to it from
the dead vulcan power supply. I had a wonderful plan where everything fits
inside the platinum IIe case, but the hard drive from the Vulcan is just too
darn tall. I have some shorter IDE hard drives (250 meg+), but I'm not sure
if they still spin up or if they would even work with the vulcan. Is there a
list of drives that will work with a 40 meg vulcan card? Can my vulcan card
be upgraded to support slightly larger drives?
