Re: 5.25 drive model numbers

(top-posted for your screen reader convenience)
Jayson,
Here is an awesome page by Phil Beesley with lots of information about the various Apple floppy drives, with good text descriptions plus pictures.

I think you want an A9M0104 Unidisk 5.25 drive with beige case as Moll said, or an A9M0107 Apple 5.25 drive with platinum case. These two are interchangeable and they daisy-chain off the 5.25 controller. Also consider a DuoDisk which has two 5.25 drives in one case and fits perfectly between a //e and a Monitor //, but does not have a daisy chain connector on the back.

The kind you don't want is called the Disk 2 (written as Disk II or Disk ][) - Apple's first floppy disk drive.

Regards
Martin

Hi,
I'm looking around on Ebay for a 5.25 drive for my IIe and IIgs. I'm blind, so can't see the pictures. What I'm looking for is the newer type of drive that has the standard looking computer cable and another drive can plug into it. I do *not* want the type with the ribbon cable you can misallign by one
pin and fry the motor. What is the model number of the drive I want?
Jayson.
