Every //e ever built has 80-column support of sorts - that is, they allcontain the 80-column firmware on the motherboard, and they all have anAUX slot. However, the 1K or 2K of bank-switched RAM necessary toactually use an 80-column display is always on the AUX card.

So, whether it's enhanced or not makes no difference. If the machine hasa card in its AUX slot, then its 80-column display mode is available. Ifit never had one put in, or if it came with one and someone took it out,no 80-column mode.

I believe that Apple did not start shipping the 64K extended 80-col cardstandard with every //e until the platinum (enhanced) IIe.
