I use a IIgs about once a year, so I haven't heard it!  I'll have
to give it a try soon.

The cycle timings should all be the same, so maybe it's just
the speaker (though that seems unlikely).  SOUND.EDITOR
(which was the development vehicle for DAC522) sounds better
with a better speaker (of course).  The lowest frequency
component resulting from the DAC is 22kHz, which is
certainly beyond my cutoff.  ;-)

Another thought--are there any interrupts enabled on the IIgs
when it's running in 8-bit ProDOS?  They would be quite
audible...
