Terminal Emulation rates

Hello All,

	Finally I have managed to get a working piece of terminal emulation
software, it's only taken me 3 weeks! I actually got both Modem MGR and
Kermit working in the same day. Unfortunately, I can't seem to set either
up in order to remember their default configuration (by use of their
install programs), but that is a small aside.

I found Modem MGR to be a bit clunky, so I stuck with Kermit in the end. I
don't need it for file transfer (well maybe very occasionally), so this
shouldn't be an issue. I'm using it to log into agetty which is listening
on ttyS1 on my linux box. It worked tonight as of 19:00 hours. After a bit
of tweaking, I managed to get full vt100 mode working. Screen-refreshing,
true cursor-key movement. I've surfed the net and read my emails in
80-column mode and all is good.

Almost all of my work in unix is done at the prompt, so I may find myself
using my apple ii exclusively for almost all of my work, should this work
out!

However - on occasion text sometimes just plain doesn't appear when typing
commands in. It's mainly during operations which refresh the screen. For
example, I use the VI editor (vim to be precise) to do my text editing.
Which works ok, however, there is a percentage meter that shows how much
of the document you have progressed through on the bottom of the screen.
Sometimes you can see vt100 escape sequences all over the last line of
text, or over this percentage. That is the last item on the screen.

Also, issuing a 'clear' command at my linux prompt often gives me a full
screen clear but with half a prompt afterwards, ie:

oss@xbolt.net]$

instead of my username in full.

Is my baud rate too high, and causing errors? I'm using 19200 for my
transfer rate, I've played around with 9600 bps but I don't really wanna
go lower. Any ideas anyone?
