I was tempted to write it that way initially, but decided
that such an optimization, which I would use myself,
would confuse a newcomer more than it helped.
People are often confused at first about the flow of
control and how it happens.
Optimizations should come after the basics are solid.
And I should also have added that, once a person is
somewhat comfortable with machine language as a
concept, they will benefit greatly from _reading_ the
literate assembly language programming of others.
The 6502 is a peculiar enough beast that there are
many "tricks of the trade" that are best picked up
by seeing them used--and then using them.
