Not a stupid question, but a frequently-asked one.  ;-)

And the answer is that high-density disks will not work _reliably_
on the 3.5" drive or _at all_ on the 5.25" drive.  Check the FAQs.

DD disks of both sizes are still available, often for bargain prices.
