Fruity Dog Mailer Source Code Has Been Found and Being Released.

Hello All, my name is George Powell, and I am the author of the "Fruity Dog"
Mailer, the ONLY working Fido mailer for the apple 2 series. The mailer was
written under a language called "shell", which was a advanced and MUCH MUCH
faster version of acos/macos and metal. The language includes all the
features of acos/macos, and most of metals' ability (in some cases much
more). A complete compiler was never completed, although a rough version
exists. The last incarnation of the mailer, used Acos/macos as a front end
for the fido mailer. The bbs was written in acos/macos, when a incoming mail
connected, or mail hour, the bbs would switch over to the shell language and
the mailer, import/export and handle incoming/outgoing mail files/etc.

Over 4 years was spent constantly developing this project, and due to
unfortunate circumstances, development was stopped, and the source code
lost. With a turn of good luck about 3 months ago, the source was found in
the original form, and also the bbs that I used to run (yllar17).

The good news, is that I have been contacted about releasing it to open
source/etc. I would like to propost the following to whoever may be
interested in continuing the mailer. (I will be available by email/phone on
occasion to help with any questions regarding the code). The code is written
in 65c02 and the shell language (yes the language and mailer is written in
its own code). All code is highly commented, and very very highly optimized
for speed and memory use.

Why am I releasing it?

I dont' have the time, or resources any longer to continue development.

I hate to see the code and effort go to waste, since people are still using
my code after all these years.

I loved the apple ][ machines, and loved programming on them, but times have
changed unfortunately, and I would like someone to continue the project.

How do I get a copy?

Ill send anyone who wishes a copy for $5.00 to cover my cost for duplicating
the CD and mailing it (worldwide)
Payment by paypal, or cash.

The CD is about 640 meg in size, in includes a LOT (I mean a LOT) of
apple ][ files games/utils/complete bbs setup/etc.
It also contains ALL the source and modules (as well as a working BBS with
the mailer) for the fruity dog project.
The CD is in MAC format, disk images of apple ][ stuff is in shrinkwrap
format.

What is the catch?

1. My name MUST repeat MUST remain on ALL code I developed (same with evan
molnar), if my name is on the code or module, it stays, but, the person who
modifies the code, may do the following "Modified by (name) on (date)"

2. NO FEE may be charged for any code or program related to the mailer.
$5.00 may be charged to cover cost of duplicating and mailing, but NOTHING
else!

3. The code/mailer be put to use, and hopefully live on for as long as
possible.

address)

Long Live the apple ][
