More info, after some time playing.
Speed is correct, and there is minor variation with the control. I've
reseated all the Apple's ROMs - a lot of the pins were black, although I
would presume that things are working. I've cleaned all the connectors.
Now what I get - with pretty much any formatted disk - is 'ERR'. Unformatted
disks fail to find track 0, disks that previously would find track zero then
seek/crash to monitor isn't doing the seek, and is just reporting ERR.
Unless I use the command PR#6, which results in the machine continually
chattering for a track 0 seek on formatted disks.
A couple of times it has reported ERR with random characters on screen, and
a couple of times it has filled the screen with crap and inverse characters.
Annoyingly, even the track zero located/seek/crash felt like more was being
done. So I'm unsure now if I've made it better or worse!
Must get another machine to do some tests on!
