Thanx for your input and suggestions/comments! :)

Yes, I used a 'non-metal' primer locally available at
Canadian Tire prior to spraying the green on the case.

Four step process, Dismantle Apple IIe, Clean Apple IIe really well,
Spray Two coats of Primer,  Spray Two coats of color.

I was tempted to clearcoat it, but figured that might make it just
a little bit TOO shiny!
