The current recommendation wouldn't be much different than it would have
been 10 years ago: Hewlett-Packard DeskJet.

If I were going to be looking to purchase a color printer today for use on
my IIGS, my list of potential printers would be pretty small...I'd be
looking at the HP DeskJet.

And, if the publisher of Harmonie - the set of GS/OS printer drivers that
lets you use high quality printers on your IIGS - recommends an HP
DeskJet, umm, errr, I think that means it's the best and most compatible
color printer you can buy and use with a IIGS.

Then again, I'm not looking for a color printer for my IIGS, as my HP
LaserJet still works perfectly.

That said, there is info on my web site - http://users.foxvalley.net/~joko
- about Harmonie and the printers it does support.

But no matter what it says there, if you want your Apple IIGS to be
happy for the rest of its life, get an HP DeskJet. It's a no-brainer.

Caveat: To use an HP DeskJet with an Apple IIGS, you need an HP DeskJet
that has a parallel port. And, the Harmonie set of printer drivers.

For color printing, anything else will be a PITA, and not nearly as
capable or compatible.

Or, so says someone who has had a HP LaserJet connected to a IIGS for more
than a dozen years...
