I've got a ROM 03 IIGS (and also a ROM 00 GS as a spare backup, but the
ROM 03 GS is where I run everything) -- no cards in any slots except for
the ZipGS in slot 2.
I received a rev 1.02 Zip GS board; far as I can determine, it's 7 MHz
and 16K SRAM with the DIP switches set as per the csa2 FAQ on the Zip
GS board (and it came with SW2 last two pins set for 16K). It came
without any documentation or software.
How does one verify what speed the GS is running at? Since the ZipGS
doesn't have a CDA (like the TransWarp GS card), there's no obvious way
to determine the actual MHz yielded... which makes me wonder. Is there a
speedtest-type of software for it?
Does WDC still sell the 816 in individual quantities? Their web site
said they had $100 minimum orders, which is somewhat contrary to the
csa2 FAQ on accelerators. I can't seem to find other vendors that stills
sells the 14 MHz PLCC 816 chip in single quantities without a large
minimum order -- Alltech Electronics seems to have gone out of business
or changed ownership/name.
I've heard of a ZipGS CDA. Is that built into the hardware or is it a
separate software that I'd need to install onto my System 6.0.1 disk?
