Sounds like the internal drive may have come unplugged
or partially unplugged from the IDC connection inside.
Open it up and take a look. There are 6 screws holding
the IIc's case together and should be, although some
do not replace these, 4 screws holding the drive in place.
If this cable becomes dislodged, the drive won't work, and
some external drives won't either if it is only partly
unplugged.
