Re: Sider (Xebec/Datamac SASI) drive and UCSD Pascal 1.1 (Apple Pascal)

Greetings:

We need to locate whatever installation software is necessary
to permit Apple UCSD Pascal 1.1 to recognize the Pascal
volumes on a Sider drive; standard Pascal 1.1 booted from
floppy doesn't recognize the drive although a boot track
writer program for the Xebec (XBOOT.COM.CODE) will write
the boot track to the HOME volume from standard floppy-
booted Pascal.

If one boots Pascal from the Sider, the running system
expects the root volume to be on the floppy which was
the root volume when creating the boot track (instead of the
Sider's root volume) and of course the running system
doesn't recognize the Sider's Pascal volumes.

There must have been a custom loader or other patches
to permit Pascal to use the drive.

I was under the impression that the Siderware Pascal utilities
were suposed to do just that. Do you have a Sider manual that
covers the Pascal installation process? The later manuals seemed
to have skipped this even though the software shipped with the
drive. The utilities you can download from my site at

They're under manuals -> sider I didn't name the disk images since
I assumed all six would be downloaded. The Sider D4 manual there
doesn't mention Pascal. If you need the Pascal installation and
utilities instructions I can get those from an earlier manual.
