The threads talk about a 6502 replacement, not a 65c802 replacement.

Sigh. The 65802 IS a 6502 replacement. But is adds capabilities to the machine. The thread was about, since one can't buy 65802s, let's make a small card that plugs into the 6502 socket that will allow the 65816, which one can buy, to fill the role of the 65802. Since the 65816 has all the capabilities of the 802, and more, it's a pretty good idea.

Someone mentioned that the 65c802 could replace a 6502, but as I read the thread replacing the 65c802 was not the intent of the project. (Although it could be a side-benefit)
