Yes; definitely something that needs fixing in GS System. Some day,
someone is going to take the time to go into the software and set the
stupid volume search variable to a sane value.
You can cut down on searches by making sure a disk is 'ejected'
from the Finder desktop before physically removing it. To speed up
checks of 5.25" drives, stick in a ProDOS disk it can identify-- lots
faster than waiting for the OS to figure out the drive is empty.
