If by "editor" you mean a word processor (as you use of a
DeskJet implies), then most people would probably prefer
Appleworks. It is a very versatile, sufficiently capable, and
easy-to-use integrated word processor, spreadsheet, and
database with many optional capabilities and more support
than virtually any other Apple II software.
Although it has never been (an probably will never be)
released as freeware, it is frequently available on eBay
and from other Apple users, and is also available on the
web with the usual caveats--check the FAQs.
(I hate it when vital qualifiers are present in the subject line
but not the text of the message... ;-)
_Graphic_ text editors are another thing!
Appleworks with Superfonts is still a fine way to use multiple
fonts, but, of course, it isn't WYSIWYG.
PublishIt! (yes, that's really the name ;-) is a very good graphic
WYSIWYG editor for the Apple //e. It has (had) a large number
of users, and is also available on the web.
