That's one reason I'd like to see the pinouts; so we can rule out
what's not the problem, and narrow down our search to something more
specific, like the controller chip or driver.

Hmm, I was about to demonstrate my ignorance by suggesting "simply"
changing the address lines used, but I have to remember we're talking
about an os written for one specific type of computer. I can just
imagine the mess that might make...

"Simple" is a relative term, depending on both the os you're using and
if you're the end user or the programmer. Would it help to look at the
IIGS code? someone implied that the HD20 would work in a IIGS.
