ProDOS filename patch?

I've got a bit of a head-scratcher going on here...

A couple of weeks ago, my HDD stalled. I hooked it to another computer,
got it running again, and copied all the files to an AppleShare server.

Today, I installed a replacement drive, partitioned and formatted it with
ADU, then instead of running a GS/OS install, I copied the PRODOS and
BASIC.SYSTEM files and the SYSTEM and FONTS directories from the
post-crash copy of the original disk.

Now I am copying files from the file server back to the new disk, and the
Finder keeps complaining that the filenames are unacceptable to the ProDOS
file system.

That's odd! The SYSTEM I am using is the one I copied from the disk that
failed, including the ProDOS FST, BASIC.SYSTEM, and P8 files. And I
patched that many, many years ago to be more flexible about filenames
(spaces, in particular...). Now it doesn't want to be flexible anymore.

Well, figuring out why would be an interesting puzzle. But it would be
more useful if I could just find the patch program that fixes this
problem. Anybody remember which patch it is? I don't think it is part of
GUPP, but it was specifically to allow most MS-DOS file names.....
