Because I live in the middle of nowhere :(

Actually our town council just had the balls to put in DSL lines for the
hospital, high school and town office, but felt it would be prudent to
keep it away from the residential areas. Our only other option is via
satellite TV, but that's insanely expensive and you still have to keep
your dial-up account for uploading. How lame is that?

On the plus side, ten years from now when you guys are all reminiscing
about the good old dial-up days, I'll be a living link to the past ;-)
