: Thanks; glad you like the scans. Each galley sheet is
: a whole tabloid page reduced to a regular size sheet;
: so, yes, it's very compact. The problem with doing
: earlier, magazine format issues that way-- e.g.,
: reformatting and putting 2-3 pages of content on one
: page-- is that you lose the actual appearance of
: the issue.
Everyone is doing a great job. have no trouble reading
any of the Computist mag scans by anyone so far. Wonderful.
: For the type-ins, at least starting around issue #52,
: you can get the stuff on the 'Library Disks'. Many of
: those are on USA2WUG at
Kool, I will go see what I can get. Thanks.
: I've experimented with zipping PSP-produced jpegs of
: scans before and discovered you get nearly zero additional
: compression. (Just now did a test on one-- the 646k jpeg
: got reduced to a 645k .zip file!)
: At 1100x1600 and 16 colors, the 650k pages are probably
: about as compact as they can get without a major sacrifice
: in quality.
Actually I wasn't as concerned with compression as
consolidation. It is easier to download 5 x 2.5MB files
than 15 x 500KB files, don't you agree? Or better yet,
one 7.5MB file, if you have fast ethernet, that isn't
a problem. Of course, downloading with a //e at 9600
it would not be fun, right Howard??? 8o)
