Apple Disk Question

I am a relative nOOb to this system, and need to know that if i have a
disk that when in the boot disk (the 5 1/4 drive) and it says 'Unable
to load Prodos', if it's safe to just copy the contents of the drive
to another 5 1/4 disk drive (just drag & drop)?
