One of my //c drives had problems first writing,
then reading disks, intermittently. I blamed first
the disks, since it was not always happening. Then
suddenly nothing would write, and shortly after
none
would read either. I was glad to have had the
option
of seeing the drive go bad gradually, thus not
causing
concern that my disks were bad. If the machine has
been
stored for any long period of time, then open it
up and
pull all socketed chips, clean and reseat, then
keyboard
and drive cables should also be reseated. While
it's
open, clean the whole thing. Make sure there is
not a
build-up of dust under the motherboard that may
have
accumulated moisture and might be shorting out a
circuit
or two. Many things can cause a malfunction. These
are
just a few. Also run diags on the memory. Possibly
a
ram is going bad, or has gone bad. Hope you get it
going again.
