Considering how easily obtainable Apple drives are, I'd say the card
would be of more use for adding 3.5" drives to a IIe. As far as I know,
external Mac floppies are much more scarce than the GS version and Laser
drives would likely be even rarer. Presumably that the 'generic' drive
you have needs the card, though if you're not too attached to it it
might be worth ebaying it -- I'm sure it would be worth something as a
curiosity.
