Zip Chip capabilities/limitations?

I've been playing with an unusual card for an Apple II which uses the
RDY line to synchronize with the 6502 (I've never seen this before).
My problem is that my main //e uses a Zip Chip, and it looks like
the Zip Chip ignores the RDY line.
Does anyone know for sure whether this is a limitation of the Zip Chip?
