Hello Bill,
There is already a binaries newsgroup for the Apple II platform.
It is: comp.binaries.apple2
I'm guessing that it would be considered really bad netiquette to start
posting binaries to a non-binaries newsgroup, not to mention somewhat
inconsiderate. I know that the last thing I want to do is wade through a
bunch of binaries postings to this particular non binaries newsgroup
(comp.sys.apple2).

Ahh, I see.
Well, that is an issue with your USENET server/provider which you use.
Guess you can badger them until they carry the comp.binaries.apple2
newsgroup, or switch over to a NNTP server that carries it, or else you
can search through backposts over the web through Google or whomever. Just
looking at the last 500 or so posts to that particular binaries newsgroup
(comp.binaries.apple2), it contains nothing but spam anyways. I don't see
any Apple II related binary postings there, at least not here at my end.

Apple Computer, Inc. does not control USENET and thus has no bearing on
the situation whatsoever. Nor does Microsoft, Dell, Gateway, IBM, Sun, and
not even the company(s) who manufacture the little lights which indicate
hard drive use on one's desktop and/or laptop systems. :)
