I have no fear about opening .zip files with WinZip
or .jpg files with any of my viewers/editors. Ditto
for any data types that I recognize.
It is important to reset the default so that filetypes are
_always_ displayed, then avoid double-clicking things
that may execute--like .exe, .com, .vbs, and so forth.
I have never had a problem (of course, I don't run Outlook
either).
