I am aware of one set of pgms for evaluating apple2 performance. It may
not be a formal "benchmark", but it is useful for testing performance,
especially of emulators. Kent Dickey offered the program folder
"Speedtest" on the 'SAMPLES_IMAGE' hdrv images with his KEGS distribution.
The folder contains the original Dos3.3 Basic 'speedtest', and Kent's
modificaton 'speed_pro' for ProDOS. The pgms can save performance
criteria to a text file which can be shared to compare performance in a
uniform manner.

If you can't get Kent's SAMPLE_IMAGE hdrv file, speedtest is available
(ftp/http) from ground.ecn.uiowa.edu:apple2/apple8/Pgms/speedtest.shk
