looking at (in Japanese) it seems to be a real Appletalk cable adapter

The hard part will be finding real appletalk cabling to connect the 
adapters... That's one reason many people used Farrallon PhoneNet dongles 
and cabling. (although it seems now hard to find the DB-9 phonenet 
adapters)
