Thank you for posting this information. I am thinking about replacing a fan on one of my System savers and this information is good to know. I agree that a quieter fan is desirable in my environment.

Of course for those without the system saver, you could try a modification I have used. I placed a fan from a PC power supply inside the IIgs power supply, facing up.

I found thqat if you cut a hole in the top of a the IIgs power supply and remove the fins from the underside of the IIgs lid, there is just enough clearance above the heat sinks to place a fan. From the outside no visible difference, from the inside, one cool chassis. I run an internal HD (microdrive), an accelerator, and large ram card. Never does the inside of the case get more than lightly warm. That HD used to get downright hot before.
