<< BZZZZT!!!  That's a Scribe, all right. Had one a while back until it
died from neglect. Still have an ImageWriter II and it works just fine.
Easier to get ribbons for, too!

The Scribe's a weird beast. Put a black ribbon in it and it'll print
very nearly like an ImageWriter. Put a color ribbon in it and it'll
print in color a la Imagewriter II when driven by a program that knows
what it is. Take the ribbon out and load thermal paper and it looks
kind of like an old thermal fax machine.

I don't miss mine much.

  The Scribe was designed to compliment the //c.  Up until then Apple had the
//e and it's beige Apple DMP, LQP and Imagewriter.  Apple needed a white
printer for their white //c.  Of course the white Imagewriter II came out a
year later.

  Still haven't figure out why the first Macs were beige and Apple came out
with a white Laserwriter for them.  Eventually all the white peripherals that
lived went platinum. Apple has sold lots of different kinds of printers.
