Newbie questions

Hi, I'm new in the Apple II community. I got an Apple //c a few days ago and I don't know very much about these computers but I've read as many FAQs as I could. I find it most annoying that transfering data between a PC and the Apple //c is so difficult. I understand that a standard PC 5,25" floppy disc drive cannot do the job and that even an external Apple 3,5" drive wouldn't help (except special drives that wouldn't be easy to find). A null modem cable is not a suitable solution for me as I have no experience with soldering cables. I have a Catweasel controller card in my PC which could read and write Apple II discs but no one seems to have written drivers for this format. And I have a lot of Commodore drives. Is it possible to use a 1571 to transfer disc images? I have a 1571 hooked up to my PC's parallel port to transfer Commodore 64/128 disc images. But I know the 1571 is a versatile drive that can handle many different formats. Could a Macintosh help? I have plenty of 68k Macs at home but no suitable 5,25" drive. Can I attach the Apple //c's disk drive to an older mac's floppy disc controller?
Thank you very much!
