Well, I tried the mentioned method myself, on KEGS/Linux with the following results. The system was installed into the root of the specified volume and I did not see a way to specify otherwise. 

Sorry if my prior message about copying the files was erroneous. The image I thought worked when copying also has the original files still in the root path. It seems the IP.SYSTEM file is still looking there for it's data.

Note, there is still a display issue with KEGS/Linux.
