Just because you cross compile doesn't mean you have to cross debug.
My ML monitor works just fine on the real machine.

Time to compile and load in emulator: less than 10 seconds.
Time to compile and load on real machine: less than 30 seconds (have
to turn around and type load :)
Time to compile on the real machine and test: minutes.
Time to develop an application on a native compiler using a horrible
library 80s in K&R syntax compared to cc65's well supported library in
ANSI C: well, I don't even want to think about that one.

Anything other than assembler, basic, and forth is pointless on the
real machines.

And? It's 2003, and anyone writing in K&R in this day and age needs a
