Bill, you can use STerm's telnet option to telnet to various sites
(including Syndicomm if you are a member) which is always handy. You
can even telnet to several sites that offer free access to the Lynx
web browser so that you can surf the web with your Apple II via STerm
on your PC.
If you know the commands, you can also use the telnet option to
connect to an SMTP server and send e-mail, connect to a POP3 server
and read received e-mail, connect to a NNTP server (newsgroup server)
and send and receive usenet messages or connect to an FTP server and
browse the directories and view ASCII files but I don't think you can
actually download anything this way.
Too bad that the program wasn't updated to support FTP fully as that
would have been very nice. Perhaps I'll have to add writing an STerm
like program with more features to my list of Windows projects. :-)
