When the IIgs was introduced, the best Mac was the MacPlus. The Apple Desktop Bus was introduced with the IIgs. The IIgs could have up to 8 megs of RAM, you had to wait for the Mac II for that, and the IIgs was in color, again, you had to wait for the Mac II for color.
In fact, when introduced, Steve the Skull said that, in a way, the IIgs was the color Mac that everyone was crying for.
