With the IIe there are two lights that normally come on. one is on the keyboard, on the bottom row but it sometimes burns out. The other is a red LED at the left rear of the motherboard. Also when you turn on a IIe you should hear a beep. The video cable uses a RCA jack. It's more commonly used as an audio cable than a video cable though sometimes it's used for that too. It's not the same as the one used for cable tv if that's what you're thinking. Wayne
