Have you tried cleaning the drive heads? I bought a pair of Apple 5.25
Drives recently and found one of them wouldn't read disks at all. I was
going to open it up and have a look inside, but first I ran a cleaning
disk in it, not really expecting it to do anything. It works perfectly
now! Possibly your drives were working fine when last used, but sitting
for a long period with dirty heads may "gum up the works".
