One of my computers at work, an Intel Celeron 1.1GHz machine,
exhibited this same behaviour.  Usually after it was left on for a
while (after several days.)   I never did find out what exactly the
problem was; it actually just went away on its own.  It could be a
power-level/power-supply issue.  But this is just a guess.
