Well, I've searched around for a used Mac SE or mac 800k drives that I
can use with my Apple //c+. Very little luck.

Then it dawned on me! I've got a couple of those extern 3.5" A9MO106
drives here that I was going to use as externals. Surely they are
compatible!

All it took was a screw driver and about 20 minutes to disassemble the
//c+, the //c+'s internal 3.5" drive and the external 3.5" A9MO106
drive, swap the actual drive mechanisms, re-plug-in everything, and
screw the //c+ back up. Threw away the bad drive and the A9MO106
housing.

Turned the //c+ on, and voila! Boots just fine!

Now, unfortunately, the only 3.5" bootable disk I had was eaten by the
bad drive. Wahhh!!!!! (Sound of me whinning like a baby...)

I've got a couple alternatives though.. I did pick up a Mac Performa
450 from eBay that I have yet to find a spot for and set up. Along
with that, I got a brand new Apple //e card from someone on eBay. I'm
hoping that I can get the Performa running, the //e card running, and
can install whatever is necessary to get the Performa to read/write
ProDOS disks. That would be cool, then I could make my own bootable
disks. I even scarfed a bunch of 800k DS/DD disks from work.

So since no one else mentioned it that I could recall or see:

"You can replace the internal 3.5" drive mechanism on an Apple //c+
with the mechanism inside an extern 3.5" drive model A9MO106. It just
takes a screw driver and about 20 minutes to do."

Cheers!
