It shouldn't be too difficult to build an adapter to replace all the 
ROMs with an 27128 EPROM (or larger).

Kessler Electronic in Germany has them for 0.44 EUR (approx. 30p) each.

Any 74LS166 or 74HCT166 should be a compatible replacement.
