What about combining an Apple IIgs with a Mac instead?  I think it would be
easier to share ADB peripherals since both are wired for ADB, easier to
share SCSI peripherals since both are wired for SCSI, easier to interface
the two via network standards such as Appletalk/Localtalk, etc.  A person
could even use a Mac TCP/IP stack for ethernet.... :-)
