Well with a 7100 you can use the keyboard power key to start it. Or, my memory is a bit fuzzy on the 7100 but I think the power button is a round one with a slot and if you torn it to the vertical position it'll put the Mac into server mode so if the power goes out it'll restart by itself when the power goes back on.
