WRT: Does OSX support Prodos.

Don feels that ProDOS is too archaic to be considered as worthy of support
(my paraphrasing). As a matter of backward compatibility for upgrades, it
should be supported IMHO.

I manage a system of computers at work that range from IIe's, IIGS,
MacOS7/8/9 classic and PowerPC's, and Unix boxes. As we upgrade
computers, OSX computers aren't worthy of consideration because of lack of
compatibility. Neither is WindowsXP, except that it is compatible with
99% of the other computers on campus, and all of the campus networking
services. So, as I upgrade to WindowPCs, at least we can use floppy
shuffle sneakernet to move data between old and new. OSX can not even do
that. If Apple had backward compatibility I'd upgrade to OSX, but until
that day comes ... I'll upgrade to WindowPCs. But I would like OSX
because of its unix command shell, I just can not justify it for
organizational use because of its incompatibility in many facets of use.

When dealing with technology ranging from 15-20 yr old to new, 'newest
technology only' isn't the best option. Backward compatibility is the
trump card. Apple doesn't need to create new file systems, they just need
to support what they created previously. EOD.
