Putting 1,2 & 3 together, it sounds like you are trying to plug
a IIe mouse into the game port of the IIgs. IIgs mice *are* ADB mice,
so the answers to your questions are:
1) You should be using an ADB mouse
(although a IIe mouse + mouse interface card might work too)
2) Ebay
3) Not only can you, you should do this.
