Well the board is old, the sockets are probably 'dirty'.  See if 
removing, cleaning and reseating the chips clears up your instability 
issues.  Clean the sockets too while you are at it, think bath in 
everclear, a toothbrush, plenty of drying time.  (Caution! Hairdryers 
and everclear do not mix!)  If the instability does not clear up, then 
some of the circuitry may be damaged.  If your cache board has bee 
upgraded and is not original, get a new one from Joachim Lang, that is 
probably your weakest link.  I'd have a board level tech have a look-see 
 for heat damage caused by poor soldering if cleaning and a new cache 
does not clear things up.

To clarify something said elsewhere in the thread, Joachim Lang does not 
sell GALs, he makes 1.8 eproms available to use his cache cards.
