I guess that advertisers are right--repetition is key.  ;-)

I thought it was fitting to use the IIgs "Apple II" cheer as the
startup sound for an 8-bit sound program.  There are, of course,
tens of thousands of 11.025kHz 8-bit digitized sounds, and it's
easy to make more with a PC (or a properly equipped Apple II).

Some people think that it's about how long you can make a
sound, but 1.8 seconds is long enough for about 98% of 
what I'd ever like to hear my computer say.  ;-)

I agree that it's a kind of "acid test" for emulator sound,
with 44000 speaker transitions per second, each timed
to within one emulated processor cycle.
