I've used the Inter-library loan to borrow copies of Apple II books
that I can't find in print anywhere for purchase.  Here in
Connecticut, the Western CT State Univ has copies of almost all the
old Nibble magazines.  So yeah, Libraries still have a pretty decent
"stash" of apple II books and magazines.
