I would not expect moving that switch to blow anything. But I do not know
that for certain. I have seen some pretty bad seating problems with the comb
connector, and sometimes it seems like you will never get a good connection
on all the pins ever again.
Just about all of the old IC's are still available. Start searching the
Internet and you will probably find anything you might need. However, having
said that, let me add that some of the old stuff is getting scarce (read:
pricey) and a lot of it has been pulled from old circuit boards.
Therefore, you might want to alternatively look around and pick up an old
II+. You'll want the Rev.7, as the older ones used a different keyboard
setup. The vast majority of II+'s were Rev.7's.
